The Association is particularly proud of having secured income protection insurance for officers aged over 60.
We had been fighting a long time to ensure officers over 60 and up to the age of 65 were not excluded from access to income protection should they be unable to attend work due to injury or illness.
We worked cooperatively with the government to get this anomaly fixed.
On 2 April 2020, the Police Minister announced the government would meet the cost of the insurance, which is a huge relief to older members of the force who are moving towards the later stages of their careers.
