1994 Association co-operate and support Wood Royal Commission

Two weeks before Phil Tuncheon came into office as president, the Wood Royal Commission was announced. This hamstrung the organisation in addressing many of the important industrial issues because of the climate it would create.

The royal commission shocked, surprised and disturbed many members of the Police Association as well as the public.

The day before Conference 1994 a special conference was called focusing on the Wood Royal Commission, delegates voted that the Association would co-operate and support the royal commission with many present seeing the Royal commission as an opportunity to make major advancements in areas such as police transfers, tenure , Police Board and management.
